Just a year old, the Concussion Institute, has already treated more than 2,500 student-athletes. The organization’s goal is to reduce the chance of concussions, especially follow-up concussions which can have catastrophic outcomes.
The Institute also aims to educate both the athletes and the adults around them, including coaches, counselors, family members and teachers.
Led by a medical director and a neuropsychologist, patients have access to exertional and vestibular therapy and sports medicine. Based on a model that practices a multi-faceted approach to injuries and rehabilitation, the Concussion Institute is the first comprehensive program that offers education, prevention and treatment under one roof in the Southeast.
